Since the first ID.3 models were handed over to consumers in October 2020, and despite supply constraints, the company delivered 500,000 vehicles from the ID. family worldwide, as per the press release by the company.

Electric mobility campaign is Volkswagen’s success story

“Delivery of half a million ID.s confirms that the Volkswagen models are well-received by our customers – all over the world. We are on the right track with our electric mobility campaign, and our success story continues,” said Imelda Labbé, Board Member for Sales, Marketing, and After Sales at Volkswagen.

“Our focus is unchanged – we want to make Volkswagen the most desirable brand for sustainable mobility.” The order bank at Volkswagen remains high: “We are doing our utmost to deliver the roughly 135,000 ID.s on order to our customers as quickly as possible. However, due to the persistently strained situation as regards the supply of parts we are repeatedly having to adjust production,”

Labbé added that the manufacturer will only produce EVs in Europe from 2033. By 2030, fully-electric vehicles would account for at least 70% of Volkswagen’s unit sales in Europe.

“In the USA and China, the company targets an electric vehicle share of more than 50 percent for the same period.”

“Norway is the forerunner in electric mobility. The ID.4 topped the registration statistics there in October. This example shows that the ID. family product portfolio matches the needs of our customers,” stated Labbé.

In addition, the German automaker will roll out ten new electric models by 2026.

“Volkswagen will have the broadest portfolio of electric vehicles in the automotive industry: From the entry-level e-car with a target price of under €25,000 to the new flagship Aero B we will have the right offer in every segment,” Labbé said.

Consumer feedback transformed direct into new vehicle functions

The ID. family is also a pioneer in digital customer experience and software integration.

Volkswagen continuously provides ID. owners with “over the air” updates. This makes sure that the car is always up to date for its entire lifespan and regularly improved by new functions.

“Our experience with this in recent months has been very positive,” Labbé reports: “The benefit is that we can transform customer feedback directly and swiftly into new functions, such as increased charging capacity or a battery capacity notification, in the driver display.”

What is #MEB? 🤷‍♂️

MEB supports the global electric mobility campaign under ACCELERATE strategy

The modular electric drive matrix (MEB) is a significant factor in boosting the global electric mobility campaign under the automaker’s ACCELERATE strategy. It is specially designed for the company’s electric drive system.

Furthermore, this vehicle architecture offers plenty of interior space, long ranges, and over-the-air software updates possibility.

Notably, the MEB serves as the technical basis for all fully-networked and fully-electric vehicles in the ID. family.

With its steady focus on fully-electric drives and its ability to be employed in vehicles from a range of segments throughout the VW Group, the MEB produces huge economies of scale, lessens the costs of electric mobility, and accelerates carbon-neutral mobility’s transition.

Thanks to its “design for manufacturing,” the MEB is also tailored for efficient and quick production. This enables the production of extensive economies of scale, making EVs less expensive and hence, more affordable for people.
