German legacy automaker Volkswagen has raised the EPA range rating of the new 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 owing to the upgraded drive unit, InsideEVs reported.
Changes
In hindsight, Volkswagen stated earlier this year that the 2024 ID.4 would feature a longer driving range and stronger power with an 82 kWh battery pack.
The German automaker also improved the drive unit rating from the previous 150 kilowatts to 210 kilowatts, improving the model’s efficiency and driving range without modifying battery capacity.
VW has yet to reveal the full specifications of the upcoming 2024 ID.4. However, the EPA listed the model, disclosing its range and efficiency ratings.
As of today, EPA’s listing indicated three ratings for the ID.4 Pro, ID.4 AWD Pro, and ID.4 AWD Pro S variants. Ratings for other trims may become available at a later date. Without further ado, here are the details for the said model variants.

Volkswagen’s new rear-drive units enabled the 2024 ID. 4 model to have more range, efficiency and range. However, it will be challenging for the company to mass-produce the new model, considering the shortage of new APP550 e-motors. The 2024 ID.4 EV may hit the US market later than the early 2024 schedule.
