Visa cardholders who drive electric vehicles will receive rewards if they use JustCharge’s charging network.
On May 20, Visa announced its partnership with JustCharge, an electric vehicle (EV) charging service in the UK to boost EV charging. Under the partnership, Visa cardholders that drive EVs will receive rewards when they pay using their debit or credit card.
“The challenge we collectively face is to grow our electric vehicle charging infrastructure rapidly and strategically and find sustainable solutions today to avoid creating problems for the future,” Charlotte Hogg, Chief Executive of Visa Europe, said. “Innovative solutions like JustCharge, which provides secure, managed public access to private charging points, can make an immense contribution to overall EV charging provision. We’re delighted to be involved through this new partnership.”
Contactless payments are now common in Europe. According to Visa’s survey on EV and hybrid drivers, 95% of the respondents said that standardized payment across public charging points would give them greater choice and accessibility.
Additionally, Justcharge, which is operated by JustPark, enables EV owners with a private charger installed at their homes or business to rent it out to others when they are not using it.
“Unlocking thousands of home chargers during the 90% of the day they are not in use makes EV adoption a possibility for more than 50% of British households without access to designated off-street parking.” Mike Strahlman, Director of EV at JustPark.
Additionally, the company said that its research showed that if 5% of households [who owns EV chargers] joined its community charging network, the number of charging locations available in the UK would double.
Strahlman added, “This partnership with Visa is a landmark moment in our efforts to redress the balance and make EV adoption an effortless, viable and cost-effective solution for millions more UK drivers.”
JustCharge is a UK-based company where it lets homeowners who own electric vehicle chargers at home rent them out to the local community while making extra money.
