Senator John Cornyn met Tesla CEO Elon Musk yesterday as he visited the US’ second-largest production plant, Gigafactory Texas.
The discussion revolved around Artificial Intelligence (AI), electric vehicle supply chains, SpaceX, and China, as noted by the Senator.
In addition, the US Senator commended Giga Texas for its significant growth contribution to the economy of Texas through the billionaire’s social media platform, X (formerly Twitter).
“Everything is bigger in the Lone Star State including @Tesla’s Gigafactory Texas – the 2nd largest manufacturing facility in the US! Tesla’s impressive facility employs 10k Texans & is one of the many reasons why TX is leading in job creation. Thanks @elonmusk for the visit.”

The Tesla boss responded to the X post, thanking the Senator for visiting the company headquarters.
About Giga Texas
Tesla’s Gigafactory Texas is a 2,500-acre land that produces the company’s cutting-edge electric vehicle models.
As EV-a2z previously reported, Tesla EVs are the leading American-built EVs in the country. The company employs local workers to build its EVs in the US, leveraging domestically manufactured parts. Once they complete production, Tesla will also start marketing these EVs locally.
Notably, Giga Texas focuses on producing the world’s top-selling vehicle Tesla Model Y. It will also soon handle the volume production of the highly awaited Cybertruck.
Furthermore, it also manufactures the company’s 4680 battery cells, which CEO Elon Musk believes can cut EV prices in the future.
That said, it is unsurprising that government officials like Senator Cornyn are interested in the factory and the business.

As mentioned, the men also talked about “AI, supply chains, critical minerals, SpaceX, China.” The Senator even emphasized in a subsequent X post that there was “no shortage of important topics to discuss” with the Tesla Chief.
This significant interaction between CEO Musk and Senator Cornyn may potentially aid Tesla in obtaining the necessary permit to directly sell its EVs in the state.
