French automobiles have been a center of foreign curiosity ever since. From the original designs to the engineering, they have something special about them. Carscoops reported that French startup Kilow showcased its first model, the Kilow La Bagnole, at the Paris motor show.
The Kilow is a lightweight electric vehicle with a limited range and modest power. However, it is among the most peculiar little EVs available today. According to the report, the tiny electric vehicle that rides on narrow 18-inch wheels weighs less than 350 kg.
Furthermore, it is devoid of gadgets and artifice to lessen its weight. Kilow says that it would allow drivers to enjoy driving their microcar. Its 21.4 hp (16 kW/21.7 PS) motor provides the necessary power to propel the vehicle from 0 to 40 km/h (25 mph) in four seconds. It can also reach a top speed of 45 km/h (28 mph).
In addition, the range of the vehicle can go up to 87 miles, depending on the configuration. It also offers LED lights for night driving.
AutoBlog reported that there are two versions of the vehicle. The other version can be driven in some Europeancountries without a license with a top speed of 28 mph. Meanwhile, the license-required model has a top speed of 50 mph.
As for the battery, AutoEvolution states that there are two versions of it available. The first one has a 43-mile range (70 km). The other has a range of 87 miles (140 km) per charge.
On the other hand, the “truck bed” can hold up to 330 pounds (150 kg) of cargo, which is roughly the amount of luggage or tools needed for two individuals.
Interestingly, the Kilow is advertised as a “toy for grownups” by kgEV, the company that developed it. Even a life-size box for storage and charging that resembles vintage toy car packaging is available in shops.
However, the toy box is more than just charming as it has solar panels on top that can be used to recharge the car. Since La Bagnole is meant to be a capable off-roader, that might be especially helpful in rural and remote locations where it can be challenging to find a plug.
Kilow starting price is 9,990€ ($9,855). Notably, the company requires 10% of the cost to reserve the vehicle. Once the preorders are filled, the configuration will be accessible.
There is no information on whether it will be released in North America, although it is now available for preorder. It is also reported that the first deliveries will start in 2023.
