European customers have warmly welcomed Volvo’s 2024 EX90 model as the Swedish automaker reports instant sell-out.

Volvo temporarily stopped accepting orders for the electric SUV in Europe because it has already been sold out, per the press release.

It is indeed remarkable news for the company as the 2024 Volvo EX90 is yet to launch in the showroom in the next few months. It also occurred 18 months before it arrived in Australia.

EX90 is off to a good start

Volvo proudly stated that the electric successor of the XC90 has exceeded its “boldest and most ambitious internal projections.”

“As a result, Volvo Cars has closed the order book for the time being because the first scheduled production run is sold out, but it will re-open again soon.”

However, the Swedish automaker has not disclosed the number of EX90 units comprising the first batch and the resumption of taking orders.

Nonetheless, UK news platform Autocar reported that Volvo plans to produce the EX90 on a small scale initially. Meanwhile, its first European deliveries are expected in early 2024. Its costs between $AU180,000 to $AU188,000 with seven seats and dual-motor all-wheel drive as standard here.

As for its Australian launch, the EX90 will hit the Australian market in late 2024. Volvo has not yet disclosed the e-SUV’s relevant details, such as the specifications, pricing, and local model range.

The order freeze for Europe has no effect on Australia because local deliveries are still a long way off. Furthermore, Volvo Australia is reported to have already collected 50 to 100 deposits before any local consumers had ever seen the car in real-time.
