Italian die-casting machine manufacturer Idra confirmed that the Cybertruck Giga Press is officially on its way to Tesla, as per Electrek. This innovative 9,000-ton machine is said to be the new largest press in the world.
Giga Press for Cybertruck production
One of the most critical manufacturing equipment Tesla will require to produce the Cybertruck is the Giga Press. Tesla will utilize the enormous machine to construct the electric pickup truck’s stainless-steel body.
Idra shared the photo on the Twitter post above following a visit from the North American Die Casting Association. As seen in the picture, the Giga Press is enormous, making five tall men look small inside it.
CEO Elon Musk announced last week, “We’re building a Cybertruck line here at Giga Texas.”
Production details
Musk said he should be test-driving a Beta Cybertruck prototype in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Tesla has also reaffirmed that it plans to begin production in the middle of 2023.
This progress is great news for the automaker, considering that the COVID-19 pandemic appears to have delayed things down for the Cybertruck, which was initially unveiled in 2019.
