However, it must be noted that these details are not yet officially released by Tesla. Therefore, we must still take these discoveries with a grain of salt.

Tesla seems to exclude “Ludicrous” moniker

As of today, the upgraded Tesla Model 3 only offers two trims: the Standard Range RWD and the Long-Range AWD. Tesla has been working on the Performance trim for some time, stirring excitement among electric vehicle enthusiasts.

In contrast to recent reports’ claims, the Tesla UK website’s source code hints that Tesla excluded the “Ludicrous” moniker from the Tesla Model 3 Performance trim. Therefore, the Musk-led company will probably introduce the new trim as “Performance” like the original version.

For context, previous reports suggest that Tesla will add “Ludicrous” in the naming of the upgraded Model 3 Performance due to the integration of a Ludicrous badge on the pre-production models’ trunk lid.

🔥🔥 The Tesla upgraded Model 3 Ludicrous would be called the “Model 3 Performance,” as hinted by a recent leak in the UK website source code.

The following details have also been leaked:

Performance trim to yield 500+ HP

Tesla indicated in the source code that the upgraded Model 3 Performance trim will be the ” most powerful Model 3 ever.” It yields “more than 500 horsepower” combined owing to its “all-new high-performance drive units.”

However, it did not show the new trim’s 0-60 mph acceleration. According to X user @BooDev, who attended the recent Malibu presentation, the acceleration time might be  2.9 seconds. In comparison, the original version of the Performance trim can do so in 3.5 seconds.

Tesla Model 3 Performance gets new adaptive suspension and other new features

The Tesla UK website’s source code also revealed that the new Model 3 Performance will arrive with an “all-new adaptive damping powered by in-house software [that] gives your enhanced body control without sacrificing daily usability or comfort.”

That said, the new Performance trim will feature a distinctive adaptive suspension system compared to the refreshed Tesla Model 3 Standard Range and Long Range’s frequency-response dampers.

Okay, the new Tesla Model 3 Performance looks kinda hot? More power, adaptive suspension… but will the steering wheel stay on this time? 🤔 Let's be real, I'm still tempted. #Tesla #Model3 #ElectricCars #CaptainElectro #CptElectrohttps://t.co/1M8YoChIjY pic.twitter.com/YENctaWpSn

In addition, Tesla indicated in the source code that the new Model 3 Performance will benefit from a smarter suspension.

“The latest generation driving mode integrates adaptive suspension controls with a performance-optimized powertrain to deliver more response and fun behind the wheel.”

Moreover, it will feature Tesla’s latest-gen Track Mode software tweak pack, V3.

“Track Mode V3 features all-new calibration for the powertrain and adaptive suspension to give you more authority behind the wheel. Plus, you can customize handling balance, stability controls and regenerative braking to set the car up how you like it.”

It will also sport a “bespoke chassis and suspension hardware” Tesla developed to “provide [an] intuitive, razor-sharp response to driver inputs.” It will also improve the electric sedan’s pedal feel and heat management to maintain good braking performance “at all speeds and across a wider temperature range.”

Appearance-wise, the new Performance trim will feature new wheels and a front/rear fascia design different from the already available Standard Range and Long-Range trims.

“Exclusive to Model 3 Performance, the redesigned front and rear fascias, rear diffuser and carbon fiber spoiler give a unique look, and work together to optimize high-speed stability.”

Lastly, the Tesla Model 3 Performance trim has a new “lightweight carbon fiber decor and refined weave pattern” and an “all-new seat design with enhanced side and cushion bolsters [to] hold you in place, while ventilation keeps you cool.”

Tesla has yet to release the specifications of the new Model 3 Performance. Therefore, the details revealed by the source code may still change upon the official launch. Tesla is expected to finally debut the Performance trim on April 20 or 23, along with the opening of order books.
