Tesla entices prospective customers in Texas to buy a new Model 3 with its new charging incentive, which would provide complimentary home overnight charging for one year.

It is worth noting that the electric vehicle giant usually offers charging incentives to boost sales. However, these kinds of marketing strategies often occur at the end of a quarter.

Now, Tesla appears to tempt Texas buyers to choose the new Model 3 among any other EV options before Q2’s end.

How to qualify?

Tesla’s official website indicated the relevant information regarding the new charging incentive program.

According to the company, Texas buyers must order and pick up a new Model 3 from May 26 to June 30, 2023 to qualify for the free home overnight charging incentive for a year.

In addition, they must also register on Tesla Electric this summer and choose it as their retail electricity provider.

Once customers finish the enrollment process for the impending Tesla Electric Home Charging Plan for Tesla vehicles, they will finally gain access to convenient home overnight charging for their Model 3 units. For those unaware, it is an exclusive energy plan for Tesla vehicle owners that allows overnight home charging for $30 per month ($1/day billed monthly).

In summary, Tesla provided the following instructions to qualify for the incentive:

  • “Order and pick up a new Model 3 between May 26, 2023, and June 30, 2023
  • Sign up with Tesla Electric and enroll in the Tesla Electric Home Charging Plan when invited
  • Live at a utility service address that has retail choice in Texas
  • Charge your vehicle at the same address as your home electricity location”

Tesla indicated that current Tesla Electric customers and Powerwall owners are not eligible for this offer.

“Texas customers in eligible territories who order and pick up a new Model 3 between May 26, 2023, and June 30, 2023, will qualify for a year of free, overnight vehicle charging at home when they sign up with Tesla Electric this summer to be their retail electricity provider.

Once enrolled in the upcoming Tesla Electric Home Charging Plan for Tesla vehicles, qualifying customers will be able to seamlessly charge their new Model 3 at home and have their overnight charging fee waived for a year.”

In hindsight, the Musk-led company launched Tesla Electric in December 2022, which assists program participants in using solar energy for their houses. It also allows owners to sell electricity back to the grid in exchange for money or credits.

On the other hand, Tesla Model 3 is the automaker’s second best-selling vehicle after the Model Y in the first quarter of 2023.

The incentive initially appears to be a mere promotional strategy to boost the sales of the Tesla Model 3. However, looking closely, it would be clear that the program is really more about growing Tesla Electric in Texas.

Notably, Tesla will disclose further information about the Tesla Electric Home Charging Plan this summer. Customers will receive an email invitation to sign up for the plan and enroll via the Tesla app.

In 1913, Henry Ford’s assembly line revolutionized the auto industry.

100 years later, Elon Musk unveiled Tesla’s Supercharger network.

It too has been revolutionary, as the industry shifts to electric vehicles.

Now Ford is teaming up with Tesla.
