Tesla has released a detailed and breathtaking view of its most recent electric vehicle production line at the Gigafactory Berlin via its official Twitter account. At the same time, the EV giant also showed its brand-new “Godzilla” robot for the first time, along with further developments.
Tesla has been progressively innovating its technologies, particularly in body manufacturing, via significant casting technology. It is worth noting that its newest Gigafactories in Berlin and in Texas are both equipped with the company’s cutting-edge production technology.
In fact, the automaker invested in huge casting presses and stamping machines to construct fewer but larger parts. In effect, it reduced the company’s capital spending and more productive production lines.
Giga Berlin’s newest production line
Tesla has been increasing its social media presence with its consistent blogs to improve its voice in recent months. It was a different approach from the company’s traditional habit of significantly relying on CEO Elon Musk in such matters since he disbanded Tesla’s PR department.
As part of this new initiative, the EV giant has posted an “in-depth” look at its latest production line at Gigafactory Berlin.
Tesla began by demonstrating its stamping line and how it manufactures its 13 different body parts.
The automaker also showed off its rear underbody, which has made the most use of its giga press, with a single piece substituting 70 parts.
Tesla used over 600 robots for production
After using too many robots and automation in the first Model 3 manufacturing line, Tesla now takes pride in using lesser robots. In retrospect, CEO Elon Musk previously admitted that relying on robots is a big mistake.
However, the videos revealed that the automaker still uses more than 600 robots in its recent production line.
Godzilla, the world’s giant industrial robot, is one of those robots. It is a massive Fanuc robot that numerous automakers use.
Apart from that, Tesla also displayed its Gigafactory Berlin paint shop. It believes that it is the most advanced in the world, allowing for new multi-layered colors released recently on Model Y.
Tesla’s increased production per week
At last, Tesla has launched new images of its Model Y production line at Giga Berlin. Some companies have been amazed by Tesla’s factory plan.
Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess even stated that Tesla’s arranged output at Gigafactory Berlin was 10 hours of manufacturing per car than VW’s Zwickau plant’s over 30 hours.
Tesla also recently announced that it is producing 3,000 Model Y vehicles per week at Gigafactory Berlin, intending to increase to 5,000 units per week.
