American electric vehicle giant Tesla seems to be discontented with the Model S Plaid’s exceptional speed of 175 mph, as it now teased a new “track package” for greater speed.
Tesla teased a new “track package” for the electric sedan on Twitter on May 4. The Model S Plaid can be seen driving at a speed of 322 kilometers per hour on the Circuit Paul Ricard in France. That figure equates to a 200 mph top speed, which Tesla originally promised when it first launched the Model S Plaid.
Model S Plaid track pack to launch soon
As you can see in the video attached to Tesla’s Tweet above, the car’s speed seems to be steadily increasing even after it reaches 322 kilometers per hour. However, the video abruptly ended at this rate of speed.
The dashboard, which shows key performance metrics, stands out right away. This feature is indeed crucial since some owners race their cars and now have easy access to information.
Soon after posting the video, Tesla updated its online store to include the “Tesla Model S Plaid Track Package.” Depending on the features chosen, the price of the upgrade kit ranges from $15,000 to $20,000 in the US. It also indicates the initial estimated delivery date, which is June 2023.
According to Tesla, the track package includes the following components:
- aluminum forged wheels
- track-ready tires
- brake fluid
- new carbon-silicon carbide rotors
- one-piece, forged calipers with high-performance pads
“Our rotors feature continuous-fiber technology and are constructed in a unique 3D matrix to add strength and manage heat more effectively. For additional durability, a ceramic friction layer covers the entire rotor surface to reduce brake dust, corrosion and wear while also improving pedal feel for daily driving.”

In addition, Tesla also stated that the package offers a full set of Goodyear tires and Zero G wheels. Customers can buy them for $6,000 per Tesla store.

A week ago, Tesla modified the Model S and Model Y configurations, giving customers a chance to select the sort of steering wheel they prefer when placing orders for either vehicle. The company is now asking an additional $250 for the yoke steering wheel.
Excitingly, Tesla indicated that the new track package will launch in June 2023. Model S Plaid models from 2021 and newer can install the package to unlock more than 200 mph speeds.
