American electric vehicle giant Tesla reportedly plans to launch a “CyberCanopy” at its new Supercharger station, raising questions among enthusiasts if this is a new product from the company.

In 2016, Tesla CEO Elon Musk disclosed the automaker’s plan to deploy solar arrays across its enormous Supercharging network in a Twitter response.

There are some installed already, but full rollout really needs Supercharger V3 and Powerpack V2, plus SolarCity. Pieces now in place.

A year later, the Tesla boss noted that the company aimed to install solar and batteries in all its existing and future Supercharger stations. More interestingly, Tesla also planned to gradually detach most of the stations from the electricity grid.

However, Tesla developed new versions of the Supercharger and Powerpack, which may have impeded the automaker from pursuing its solar and battery plans for Supercharger stations.

Nonetheless, Tesla has started launching its new Supercharger V4 globally, sparking speculations that the highly awaited solar and battery installation would finally materialize along with this version.

The CyberCanopy

Tesla reportedly aims to launch solar technology in a Supercharger station in Canton, Massachusetts, called the “CyberCanopy.”

Twitter user @MarcoRPTesla obtained the plan for the new Tesla Supercharger in Massachusetts and shared it on the social media platform.

The published plans indicated the new “CyberCanopy.” However, its design remains vague, especially when we solely look at the documentation.

As Electrek noted, Tesla already employed solar canopies at some of its Supercharger stations in the past. However, most of them looked ordinary. Interestingly, the new CyberCanopy seems to be now a custom-built solution from the EV giant.

The new Tesla CyberCanopy may be very likely a new product from the company, given the recent reports that Tesla was planning to launch new solar and energy products. Apart from that, the Musk-led automaker also likes indicating the word “cyber” in its newly launched products, such as the Cybervault.
