Electric vehicle pioneer Tesla plans to reveal the new Roadster as early as this year, promising to feature SpaceX technology that could bring the electric supercar’s acceleration and speed to the next level.

CEO Musk’s announcement

Tesla Chief Elon Musk announced the company’s plans to introduce the new Roadster electric supercar in 2024.

According to the series of X posts, the American business magnate is strengthening Tesla’s collaboration with its other venture, SpaceX, to equip the electric supercar with cold air trustees.

However, Tesla has once again postponed the production of the highly-awaited model.

Brief background

Tesla initially introduced the Roadster during the Tesla Semi debut in 2017. The American electric vehicle giant expected the electric supercar to serve as its new halo model to boost its market presence.

It is also part of Tesla’s strategy to convince the entire auto industry that electric vehicle technology is crucial in building the world’s best car.

Tesla initially set the Roadster’s launch in 2020. However, it struggled with a subsequent yearly delay through 2024.

What to expect from the new Roadster?

The Tesla boss also noted that the company was able to increase the Roadster’s design targets.

“Tonight, we radically increased the design goals for the new Tesla Roadster.

There will never be another car like this, if you could even call it a car.”

Apart from that, CEO Musk also reiterated plans to offer the optional “SpaceX package” for the new Roadster. It apparently contains ten cold air trusters serving as many rockets, enabling the car to accelerate (or even jump).

NEW: Tesla is teaming up with Space X to build the Tesla Roadster, a sports car that will hit 0-60 in *less* than 1 second according to Elon Musk.

This is mind blowing.

How exactly will they get the car to 60 mph in less than 1 second?

In addition, Tesla claims to target a sub-1-second acceleration from 0 to 60 mph for the new Roadster electric supercar.

And that is the least interesting part

It remains to be seen if Tesla will really manage to bring the Roadster next year, considering the already four years of delay since the original production target in 2020. Nonetheless, interested buyers can now book a reservation for the electric supercar on Tesla’s official website.

Reservation requires a $5,000 immediate payment and a subsequent $45,000 wire transfer within ten days. Both payments are refundable in case reservation holders change their minds.
