American electric vehicle giant Tesla will soon introduce its own in-car voice assistant in a new software update, according to the source code unveiled by prominent Tesla hacker @greentheonly.
Source code reveals Tesla’s upcoming in-car voice assistant
Tesla’s 2024.14.3 software update includes numerous official enticing new features. However, there are also some things concealed in the source code.
Tesla hacker @greentheonly revealed some of the unreleased features of the latest software update, including an in-car voice assistant.
As per the coding, owners can activate the in-car voice assistant with a “wakeword.” Therefore, the system will always be listening like Alexa.
Tesla also seems to have already chosen the Jenny Neutral voice from Microsoft as the system’s tone or narration.
Tesla has yet to announce more information about the upcoming Tesla Voice Assistant. However, Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk had previously revealed his plan to allow car owners to not have to input anything manually. He wants Tesla cars to anticipate the owners’ needs. If it cannot, it aims to leverage voice command.
Tesla boss’ long-standing ambition
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has long been discussing his ambition to equip its electric vehicle offerings with an in-car voice assistant feature.
The Tesla boss even implied a potential collaboration between the electric automaker and his AI startup xAI to install its chatbox inside the cars.
Now, it seems that CEO Musk’s ambition will soon come to fruition with the new 2024.14.3 software update.
Other enticing features
The Tesla hacker also revealed other unreleased features of the latest software update, including the introduction of a native Amazon Music app.
The 2024.14.3 software update will also equip Tesla electric vehicles with the following features: new Track Mode windows and additional options to the “Restricted Drivers” feature. It reportedly adds more safe gates than what is currently available.
Tesla also has two new wheel designs called “Wishbone” in the source code. It will come in 19″ and 20″ configurations.
Tesla has yet to announce the official timeline for releasing the new features unveiled by the source code in the latest software update.
All that said, it is interesting to learn if the Tesla boss really comprehends if the owners want to ditch physical buttons or not.
