American electric vehicle giant Tesla seeks to enhance the Cybertruck’s security features and charging convenience with a new software update, first reported by Not a Tesla App.
Tesla introduces new Trailer Alarm feature
Tesla’s 2024.8.4 software update includes the new Trailer Alarm Feature, which will apparently improve the all-electric pickup’s security.
It extends the Tesla Cybertruck’s alarm system to closely monitor the connection status of a trailer attached to the pickup. Simply put, the Cybertruck’s security alarm will now cover the trailer as well to guarantee the safety of valuable cargo. Therefore, it will activate once the trailer gets detached or messed with in any way.
“Your vehicle alarm now also monitors whether your trailer is plugged in to the hitch. The trailer alarm sets and turns off along with your vehicle alarm. You can disable this security feature in your vehicle settings at Towing and Hauling > Trailer Alarm.”

Tesla to display which Superchargers are trailer-friendly
Tesla’s 2024.8.4 software update will also improve the Supercharging experience of Cybertruck owners with trailers.
The Musk-led company has progressively launched pull-through charging stalls at its Supercharger stations in response to the owners’ complaints over the hardships of charging while towing. These charging stalls can efficiently support electric vehicles with trailers, cutting the need to disconnect them to initiate charging.
“Supercharger team is always looking for opportunities to install these at new locations. Will show trailer friendly stalls on the in-vehicle UI to make it easier when road tripping with a trailer.”

Tesla’s prepares Supercharger network for the Cybertruck
Tesla has long been planning to develop Superchargers with Cybertruck-specific features, including larger parking spaces.
The Musk-led company secured the government’s approval for the Cybertruck-specific parking spaces in 2020. The City Council gave Tesla the green light to pursue its proposed Tesla V3 Supercharger project in Pasadena, California, which will feature Cybertruck-specific charging spaces.
The 2024.8.4 software update demonstrates Tesla’s dedication to ensuring the security and convenience of its owners. It would be interesting to see how the American EV giant can meet the enormous demand for the all-electric pickup truck.
