American billionaire Elon Musk has just announced plans to finally move away from the Foundations Series to regular Cybertruck trims production in the third quarter of 2024.
Tesla hits 1,300 Cybertruck production in a week
During the 2024 Annual Shareholder Meeting on Thursday, CEO Elon Musk proudly disclosed that the Cybertruck production has recently achieved 1,300 units in a week.
This major production milestone prompted Tesla’s decision to leave the Foundations Series production in the following quarter.
For context, the Foundation Series bundles boost the Cybertruck’s price to $100,000. Ditching this limited version should lower the price, considering that the dual motor variant only starts at $80,000.
Production target
Tesla is now gearing up to hit a weekly production rate of 2,500 Cybertruck electric pickups by the end of 2024.
The recent milestone equates to a current annual production rate of 65,000 Cybertruck units, with Tesla aiming to hit 125,000 units/year by the end of 2024.
In hindsight, Tesla announced previously that it aims to achieve a full production output of 250,000 Cybertruck units. However, the electric automaker plans to hit this target in 2025.
