America’s leading automaker, Tesla, will likely record another high in the first quarter of 2023 in terms of deliveries, primarily to its major markets US, China, and Norway.
Tesla ramps up production at its two new EV production plants
Electrek reports that Tesla is currently significantly increasing its EV production at the company’s newest factories, namely Gigafactory Berlin and Gigafactory Texas.
Notably, the Giga Berlin has just hit 5,000 Model Y units/week production capacity.
Even more, the Musk-led automaker is also attempting to increase its production rate at its factories in California and China.
These production ramp-up efforts boosted Tesla’s EV deliveries and sales over the previous quarters, advancing its position in the market.
In fact, Tesla reported a record-breaking delivery of 405,000 units last quarter. Interestingly, its Q1 deliveries usually drop for Q4 or slightly grow.
Can Tesla actually meet the demand for its EVs?
Tesla can potentially deliver customers’ orders in its major markets at least.
As we previously reported, “unprecedented demand” has been generated in the US due to Tesla’s dramatic price reductions. Halfway through the quarter, the automaker’s best-selling Model Y ran out of new production build slots.
The first quarter of 2023 is also promising for Tesla’s second-largest market, China. With one week before the quarter ends, the most recent registration data indicates that Tesla has already surpassed its previous record for deliveries in the nation with 126,000 deliveries. For reference, about 140,000 Tesla vehicles should have been delivered in China overall throughout the quarter.
Meanwhile, EV eutopia Norway saw Tesla deliver 7,000 units already. The report projects Tesla to increase that figure to 10,000 by the end of the quarter.

It is worth noting Wall Street projects Tesla to deliver 420,000 EVs globally in Q1 2023. That figure represents a quarter-on-quarter growth of about 15,000 units and a year-on-year of more than 100,000 units.
