Electric vehicle giant Tesla has officially relaunched its highly coveted Full Self Driving transfer program in North America. Apart from that, the Musk-led automaker has also added the Tesla Model 3 to its free unlimited Supercharging transfer scheme over the weekend.
Free FSD beta transfers
Tesla has reopened the free FSD beta transfers on its S3XY lineup in the North American market, assuming that buyers take delivery by March 31. The scope of the program covers the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
“Includes transfer of your current trade-in vehicle’s FSD capability at no cost to you if you take delivery of a new Tesla vehicle by March 31, 2024.”
Tesla
In hindsight, Tesla initially launched the free FSD beta transfers program last year after countless owner requests. At that time, owners could only access the offer if they took delivery before the end of the third quarter of 2023. At this time, Tesla did not require owners to sell their cars; it simply removed FSD from the old unit to transfer it to the new car.
It is indeed an enticing offer for Tesla owners planning to upgrade to a new model without losing their FSD beta access, considering that it currently costs $12,000 in the US and $16,500 in Canada.
Free lifetime Supercharging transfers
Apart from the free FSD beta transfers, Tesla has also started offering its free lifetime Supercharging transfer again on February 3, 2024.
Customers can only benefit from this offer if they take delivery by the end of the first quarter, March 31.
Tesla only initially included the Model S, X, and Y buyers in this incentive. However, recent developments now include the Tesla Model 3.
Tesla qualifies all existing orders in the backlog and allows incentive stacking. However, current leased models cannot benefit from the FSD transfer offer.
Tesla’s move to relaunch these enticing incentives is undoubtedly part of its efforts to boost demand in the first quarter of the year. It may be a piece of good news for owners, but it may be alarming to Tesla investors. Considering that the American automaker has already launched the Cybertruck and the upgraded Model 3, it seems that demand remains insufficient for Tesla to achieve a record quarter.
