Tesla CEO Elon Musk shocked the automotive space when he announced during the 2023 Shareholder Meeting that the automaker would now “try a little advertising.” It is undoubtedly a massive leap from Tesla’s original marketing strategy, solely word of mouth.

Interestingly, the Tesla boss finally realizes the significance of advertisements now that he has experience leading Twitter.

“Twitter is highly dependent on advertising, so, here I am, never used advertising really before, and now have a company that’s highly dependent on advertising. So, I guess I should say advertising is awesomeer , everyone should do it!”

CEO Musk further noted that Tesla could employ advertisements to spread awareness of features that customers may not know about.

“We’ll try a little advertising and see how it goes.”

Tesla’s advertisement video

Tesla Asia’s official Twitter published the brand’s first-ever advertisement video on May 19.

In the video, a Tesla car owner talked about her buying experience and what attracted her to choose Tesla. Refer to the video below:

This video is very powerful.

This is what Tesla’s ad experiments should be: Just user testimonials. Just have the people who love these products explain why in their own words. pic.twitter.com/faen4rwuyW

The tone of the client testimonials is undoubtedly straightforward in comparison to the company’s earlier marketing gimmicks, most notably its well-known referral program.

For context, customers could once enter raffles to win drag race experiences and chances to operate the tunneling machine owned by CEO Musk’s Boring Company.

Nevertheless, the industry’s reaction to the film seemed favorable, particularly because it highlighted Tesla’s industry-leading safety, which is sometimes ignored.
