American EV giant Tesla is reportedly in a preparation phase for the Cybertruck production as it awaits the delivery of its second 9k-ton Giga Press.

Previous reports reveal that parts of Tesla’s first 9,000-ton Giga Press were seen being transported to Gigafactory Texas back in January. As we all know, Drone videographer Joe Tegtmeyer has regularly been able to obtain confidential images from the Gigafactory.

Friday the 13th! Don't get distracted by all the price cuts on Tesla cars, the real story is the assembly of the 9K-ton Giga Press! Here are a few images to get you started, much more on a busy Giga Texas in my YouTube video later today! pic.twitter.com/Gz6uaFCJ2M

Since then, the electric automaker Tesla prevented drone operators from recording the assembly of the machine by blocking the windows of the Giga Texas.

Tesla awaits shipment of the second 9k-ton Giga Press

Despite the stringent measures to discourage drone operators, shipment data was still able to reveal that another 9k-ton Giga Press is on its way to Giga Texas. Cybertruck Owners Club Forum member Greggertruck obtained the document and shared it with the online community.

Could we be seeing another 9kT IDRA press soon in Texas? 🚢Import records showing IDRA components starting to arrive in Tesla in Texas! (This is how the shipments look when they start arriving, they don't ship a whole 1mil lbs machine at once) Arriv. @ port on 3.16.23 #cybertruck pic.twitter.com/cr698gjtOl

As you can see in the image attached above, a cargo from IDRA landed at a nearby port on March 16 with Tesla listed as the recipient entity. Interestingly, it appears that the item is the first component of the Giga Press because other Bills of Lading imply queued shipments to the Giga Texas.

In retrospect, Tesla enthusiast Greg also revealed the first delivery of Tesla’s Cybertruck die-casting molds in January 2023.

Role of the IDRA Giga Press on Tesla’s production

Tesla has employed the IDRA Giga Press to streamline production and enhance its car designs. These kinds of technological advancements led the EV brand to significantly boost its EV production.

As we all know, Tesla has delayed the Cybertruck production multiple times now. That said, these advancements are good to hear as they imply that the highly-awaited electric truck is nearing its mass production.

We previously reported CEO Elon Musk’s announcement that the automaker is set to begin Cybertruck production this summer. He further noted that mass production is in the pipeline but would not happen until next year.

“We do expect production to start… maybe sometime this summer. But I always try to downplay the start of production because the start of production is always very slow. It increases exponentially, but it’s always very slow at first. So I wouldn’t put too much thought in start of production. It’s kind of ‘When does volume production actually happen?’ and that’s next year.”

Indeed, the Tesla Cybertruck is among the electric vehicles that most enthusiasts anticipate. It would really be exciting to see Tesla finally ramping up the production of the all-electric truck.
