Leading electric automaker Tesla announced plans to establish its first-ever sales and delivery hub in Madison County near New York State Thruway. According to the press release, the project would also include service facilities and expanded charging stations.
About the project
The location of the new Tesla showroom is owned by Oneida Indian Nation, measuring 25,000-square-foot throughout the International Boxing Hall of Fame at Thruway Exit 34 near Canastota.
As mentioned, this NY showroom would mark the automaker’s first direct sales platform in the state. According to the report, the partners expect to officially open the showroom in 2025.
“We are proud to expand access to EVs in Upstate New York. This initiative and partnership with Tesla align with the Nation’s commitment to environmental stewardship, the constant diversification of our enterprises, and warm hospitality for all who enter our ancestral homelands.
As we look towards the future, we know that these guiding principles will serve as an anchor for the economic development required to sustain our region and the Oneida people for many generations to come.”

Tesla to start pre-ordered EV deliveries in the following days
Fortunately, customers do not need to wait until 2025 to acquire their Tesla cars. According to the report, the automaker will start delivering pre-ordered EVs at the Oneidas’ Turning Stone Resort Casino off Thruway Exit 33 in Verona in “a week or so.”
The American EV giant will keep its Turning Stone offices for delivery operations and registration purposes. Apparently, delivery there would continue while the new showroom is under construction.
What’s the big deal?
This newly formed partnership between Tesla and Oneida Indian Nation will aid the automaker in its expansion efforts in Upstate New York.
It is indeed a remarkable strategy considering Tesla’s choice of direct selling, skipping third-party dealerships. Apart from that, it will also boost the state’s electric vehicle uptake.
“This partnership with the Oneida Indian Nation is an opportunity to make electric vehicles and charging infrastructure more accessible to Nation Members and the residents of Upstate New York.”

The Oneida Indian Nation will receive the state’s portion of sales taxes on vehicles purchased from Tesla. Then, the accumulated taxes will provide funding for its public safety, healthcare, education, and environmental preservation initiatives.
