Electric vehicle giant Tesla is gearing up to showcase its innovative stainless steel electric pickup Cybertruck and humanoid bot Optimus Gen 2 at the upcoming 2-day AI conference in Shanghai on July 4, 2024.
Tesla to participate in tech conference in Shanghai
Tesla will bring the Cybertruck and Optimus Gen 2 at the 2024 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, which will kick off on Thursday.
While Tesla has yet to determine the best way to launch the Cybertruck beyond North America, it has already been touring the electric pickup around the world to demonstrate its cutting-edge design. Therefore, it is no longer surprising that the Musk-led company decided to bring it again to China for the 2024 WAIC in Shanghai.
Tesla is also unveiling the second-gen iteration of its groundbreaking Optimus humanoid bot to the AI conference. The American company seeks to demonstrate the technology’s capabilities and preview its ongoing efforts in the AI landscape.
Tesla Cybertruck
The Tesla Cybertruck does not fail to showcase the American electric automaker’s engineering muscle. However, it also demonstrated the major challenges a company faces in launching an innovative and unique vehicle model.
Tesla previously shared that Cybertruck successfully achieved a production rate of 1,000 units per week in April. CEO Elon Musk also declared during the 2024 Annual Shareholder Meeting that the Cybertruck certification for international markets is possible next year.
Tesla Optimus Gen 2
Tesla’s Optimus Gen 2 features in-house-designed actuators and sensors. According to Tesla, it now has a 2-DoF-actuated neck and can walk 30% faster than its predecessor.
In an X post last month, Tesla outlined the Optimus project’s milestones since 2018. It also announced the deployment of two Optimus bots in its factories.
“Deployed two Optimus bots performing tasks in the factory autonomously.”
