First batch to arrive in mid-June, beating initial estimates

According to CnEVPost, Tesla China launched the formal sales of the updated Model 3 Performance in China after listing it on its official local website and starting pre-sales on April 24, 2024.

Tesla managed to set an earlier delivery date of mid-June 2024 than it originally expected for the updated Model 3 Performance.

“Effective immediately, the Model 3 Performance will move from pre-sales to formal sales, with first deliveries expected to begin in mid-June.”

 Tesla said today on Weibo

At the time, Tesla initially expected to start local deliveries in the third quarter of the year. In a significant development, the company moved up the delivery timeline.

Targeting premium EV segment with a ¥335,900 ($46,382) base price

The updated Tesla Model 3 Performance went on pre-sale in late April with a base price of RMB 335,900 ($46,380). It must be noted that its official sales price is just similar to the pre-sale.

Customers who placed an order for the updated Tesla Model 3 Performance can now expect to receive deliveries in just 3 to 6 weeks.

With the arrival of the Tesla Model 3 Performance, the electric sedan now offers three variants in the Chinese market:

  • Entry-level rear-wheel drive version –  RMB 231,900 base price
  • Long-range all-wheel drive version – RMB 271,900 base price
  • Performance dual-motor all-wheel drive – RMB 335,900 ($46,380) base price

Key specifications

The revamped Tesla Model 3 Performance is making the EV giant’s lineup more solid in the world’s largest auto market.

According to Tesla China’s website, the new Performance variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 3.1 seconds.

It also boasts a top speed of 261 km/h (162 mph) and a CLTC-rated driving range of 623 km (387 miles).
