Electric vehicle giant Tesla announced a new enticing offer for new purchases, including a month of free Full Self-Driving (FSD).
In a significant development, Chief Executive Elon Musk extended the incentive to existing Tesla owners.
Announcement
Tesla recently updated its online configurator page for the Model S, X, and Y. However, the Model 3 page does not yet display the one-month FSD free trial offer as of Monday.
Despite that, all new US-based Tesla car buyers will surely benefit from this enticing offer. Even more, it will extend to already existing Tesla owners with FSD capability.
“All US cars that are capable of FSD will be enabled for a one-month trial this week.”

Leaked email highlights
Tesla’s move to offer a month of free FSD trial comes after a leaked internal email from CEO Musk to Tesla employees.
Per the memo, the Tesla boss is instructing company employees in North America to demonstrate the FSD V12.3.1 capabilities to new customers before handing over the unit.
“Going forward, it is mandatory in North America to install and activate FSD V12.3.1 and take customers on a short test ride before handing over the car.”
Tesla CEO Elon Musk
CEO Musk contends that most buyers are not aware of FSD’s functions. Therefore, such demonstrations are necessary to show them the technology’s full potential.
FSD improvements
The FSD version 12.3.1 signifies a major improvement in Tesla’s autonomous driving technology development, delivering a more intuitive driving experience.
It replaced more than 300,000 human-codel lines with end-to-end neural networks trained on millions of video data for city driving.
“FSD Beta v12 upgrades the city streets’ driving stack to a single end-to-end neural networks trained on millions of video clips, replacing over 300k lines of explicit C++ code.”

Tesla has also been able to make FSD function like a human driver, solving previous concerns about the technology’s responsiveness.
With all that said, FSD will undoubtedly be a major sales point for Tesla’s next-gen EVs, including the $25,000 model. By introducing the software to a wider pool of customers, the company may be able to build the foundation of its future models.
