Four of ChargePoint’s EV charger models can now support Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector cables.
The EV infrastructure company posted on Twitter that NACS cables for Express 250 are now available for order. ChargePoint has the NACS cables retrofitted easily onto existing DC fast charge models and as new vehicles are released, the company will continue to test them to ensure connector compatibility.
Currently, Tesla drivers can use ChargePoint DC fast chargers with available adapters, and Tesla also sells a CCS Combo 1 adapter. However, for Tesla owners, the NACS connector cables on ChargePoint will be far more convenient. As stated by ChargePoint in its FAQ:
“ChargePoint has NACS solutions available for all AC and DC use cases.
ChargePoint Home Flex, CPF50, Express 250 and Express Plus Power Link 1000 stations can be ordered with NACS connector options. Other stations, including CP6000 and Express Plus Power Link 2000, will be available to order with NACS options soon.”
According to ChargePoint, commercial stations with Tesla-compatible NACS connectors are now for sale, and the company is collaborating with site owners to make stations them available to drivers as fast as possible.
“Yes. ChargePoint now sells commercial stations with Tesla-compatible NACS connectors, and we are working with site owners to make them available to drivers as fast as possible.
Even if a particular station does not currently have Tesla-compatible NACS connectors, Tesla drivers can still use it to charge their vehicles conveniently”
