Tesla has always prioritized safety, and the company’s reputation for far-above-average collision ratings has been recognized by organizations such as the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, which recognized the vehicle five stars for crash safety.

Since the Model S debuted in 2012, Tesla has received many top safety awards and ratings.

Top Safety Pick+ award

The all-electric crossover was titled a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for 2022. The vehicle also received five stars from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), with the highest overall score in its most recent and demanding tests.

The Safety Assist rating of the Model Y is the highest among vehicles tested by Euro NCAP.

Tesla recognizes newer advances in safety created by competitors and acts instantly to bring them to its models, according to What Car? The UK’s largest car-buying brand has assisted buyers for over 40 years.

One notable example was the installation of airbags between the front seats of automobiles to reduce the severity of side-on collisions.

Despite its high price, the Model Y is selling well. “It’s the model to choose if you can afford it for keeping you, your family, and other road users safe.”

Tesla Model 3 also awarded

Matthew Avery, Thatcham Research’s chief of research strategy, and Claire Evans, What Car? Consumer editor, discuss the Tesla Model Y’s safety features. Thatcham Research is the UK’s only Euro NCAP-accredited safety testing center, and it plays an essential role in assessing the protection vehicles provide in the event of a collision.
