Tesla’s top-selling electric crossover Model Y has gained another recognition as the world’s most-produced car in 2023, Kelley Blue Book reports, citing French automotive data firm Inovev’s study.
Tesla Model Y recognized as the world’s most-produced car last year
The Tesla Model Y has once again proved its market dominance as it topped the Inovev study’s list of most-produced cars in 2023, beating all automakers in the world.
Notably, Ford’s popular F-Series has long been one of the mainstays on this list. However, its sales are concentrated in the United States, Canada, and some countries in South America.
The Tesla Model Y successfully beat the Ford pickup and all other competitors in terms of global production last year. According to the report, the Tesla electric SUV’s production reached a total of 1,137,885 units in 2023.
“The Ford F-Series pickup has been America’s best-selling vehicle for over four decades. But America isn’t the world.”

Moving forward
Tesla Model Y’s production and sales growth is expected to further increase in the coming months and years as the company progressively penetrates new markets across the world.
Tesla recently launched its inaugural store in Chile, marking its efforts to dominate the South American market. All that said, it would be interesting to see how the Musk-led company will manage the expected growth rate recession this year.
Earlier this year, Tesla warned investors about the looming “notable ” decline in growth rate in 2024 as it focuses on the next-gen platform development. The company expects to roll out the next-gen platform in late 2025.
