Interestingly, KBB’s top 10 list was dominated by Japanese automakers and non-electric models. During the first five years of ownership, the top 10 in Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value 2023 list are predicted to still be worth at least 60% of their original cost. Refer to the table below:

Meanwhile, PHEVs, full-size pickup trucks, midsize pickup trucks, luxury full-size SUVs, and minivans were among the several segments Toyota and Lexus won. Essentially, these awards earned them the title of top resale value brands of 2023.
The absence of the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y may surprise some people. Then, it must be acknowledged that the automaker’s price cut earlier this year caused both EVs to see considerable value reductions. In effect, several secondhand Model 3 units were sold for the lowest prices to date.
However, the omission of Rivian R1T and R1S, the Hyundai IONIQ 5, and the Kia EV6 are more unexpected, especially in light of the high demand for each vehicle in their respective classes.
Many enthusiasts are anxious about when EVs will be recognized as having a higher resale value than their gas-powered equivalents, especially with the KBB forming new segments for them. That day might come sooner than we thought, given the expanding number of products from an increasing number of companies.
