Deliveries of the Tesla Model S Plaid appear to be finally beginning in Europe after a very lengthy wait. Interestingly, recent reports from Germany that included pictures of the flagship all-electric vehicle‘s certificate of compliance (CoC) drew attention to this, as per InsideEVs.
Certificate of Conformity
For those who do not know, the free movement of goods within Europe is guaranteed by a Certificate of Conformity. Additionally, it contains crucial product information.
Therefore, the previously undisclosed information about the Tesla Model S Plaid’s top speed and towing is now learned if the recent reports were verified.

The second image attached to the tweet contains a lot of information, showing that the electric flagship sedan’s top speed is 300 km/h. Remarkably, it is roughly 186 mph equivalent.
On Tesla’s website, the Model S Plaid is advertised as having a top speed of 200 mph.
However, the electric vehicle giant has not yet released a software upgrade to fulfill that speed.
On the other hand, the Model S Plaid’s maximum speed was restricted to 163 mph when it first entered the United States. Nonetheless, Tesla eventually increased it to 175 mph with an over-the-air software upgrade.
Notably, the software upgrade followed another one that included Track Mode.
The Certificate of Conformity also indicates that the optional Carbon Ceramic Brake Kit will be necessary to maintain the maximum peak speed of 322 km/h (200 mph).
According to the report, the kit should be offered this fall for $20,000.
Towing
It is worth noting that in contrast to the US, towing usually differs in Europe. That said, some vehicles that are not allowed to tow legally on American soil might be allowed to do so abroad.
The Model S Plaid is equipped with a factory tow hitch as standard equipment, per the specifications in the Certificate of Conformity. According to recent reports, Tesla’s online configurator in Europe features a tow hitch confirmed to draw about 3,500 pounds.
In contrast, a factory tow hitch is omitted on the Model S Plaid’s order page in the US.
