Electric vehicles are slowly becoming the norm in several countries. Developments and innovations are continuously in the making. As EVs continue to gain popularity and attention, one specific model from Tesla has become Canada’s best-selling.According to Tesla North, the Tesla Model 3 outsold all other electric vehicles by a wide margin from January to September in six of the seven provinces it topped. Namely Alberta (165 units), British Columbia (3,848 units), Manitoba (35 units), Nova Scotia (55 units), Ontario (2,213), and Quebec (3,325), and tied for the first spot in New Brunswick with Hyundai Ioniq 5 (44 units each).

Transport Canada handed out 25,452 $5,000 rebates to electric vehicle buyers during the first eight months of 2022. Thirty-eight percent were delivered to new owners of Tesla Model 3 in those rebates, as per Driving.ca.

However, the Model 3 is not the highest-volume Transport Canada-eligible vehicle in every region. Despite the Model 3 not being eligible for Transport, the Canadian government’s iZEV program offers a CAD 5,000 rebate on purchases up to CAD 55,000.

Now that the federal EV incentive of $5000 has kicked in, British Columbians can combine it with the $5000 incentive from @CEVforBC to purchase a Standard Range Plus Tesla Model 3 for a total of $51611.20 all in (taxes and rebates included). pic.twitter.com/v8gbGsHHjt

With 25,452 of the $5,000 rebate given to Canadian EV buyers in the first months of 2020, the Model 3 outsold other electric vehicles in the country.

Other electric vehicle front runners were the Hyundai Kona EV in Newfoundland and Labrador (32 units) and the Chevrolet Bolt and Kona EV on Prince Edward Island (14 units each).
