Tesla may soon launch the upgraded Model 3 Highland’s Performance variant with a new design, as hinted by the appearance of a camouflaged prototype on the roads of San Francisco.
Apparent features
As you can see in the video attached to the X post above, the Tesla Model 3 Performance prototype was driving around the roads of San Francisco.
The Tesla Model 3 features performance brake calipers, which are unique to the performance version of the car. It is interesting how Tesla covered the prototype’s front and back end, given that it has already unveiled the revamped designs of the other trims. Therefore, the Performance variant may come with more exterior changes.
Some Tesla fans also contend that the prototype features a more aggressive front splitter:
Background
Tesla has gradually rolled out the upgraded Tesla Model 3 over the past six months in the European and Asian markets. It has an upgraded interior and exterior design, along with more advanced features.
Earlier this month, Tesla finally brought the model to North America. However, the Musk-led company only offered the RWD Standard Range and Dual Motor Long Range variants.
The absence of the Performance variant raised electric vehicle enthusiasts’ interest in the potential launch of the top-of-the-line Model 3.
It seems that Tesla plans to offer customers the top-tier variant in the near future.
Availability
Despite the appearance of the Tesla Model 3 Highland Performance’s prototype on public roads, it remains unclear when Tesla will launch the production version.
As of today, the Performance variant is still not available for order. According to The Driven, some speculate that Tesla may officially roll out the highly awaited model variant around the first quarter of the year.
