Leading American automaker Tesla has included a new unique destination feature to its electric vehicle models with the latest 2023.26 software update. Through the Automatic Navigation feature, drivers will be able to know relevant data about their journey, such as the following:

  • picture of the location
  • estimated time of arrival
  • battery state upon arrival

Simply put, the new feature enables Tesla EVs to offer smart suggestions for drivers’ next destination using various factors, including data from the official mobile app, calendar events, or learning from the drivers’ standard routines.

Notably, the famous Apple Maps utilize a similar feature. It can give directions to any location based on the time the users usually go on a daily basis.

It is indeed helpful as it can lessen the time needed to figure out the directions. It can also prevent drivers from taking the route that may cause inconveniences, such as ongoing roadwork or accident.

Tesla also enables its drivers to deactivate/activate this feature by simply tapping the “Controls” button. From there, drivers can see the “Navigation,” leading them to the Enable Automatic Navigation option.

Apparently, this Automatic Navigation feature is among the new features Tesla omitted to explicitly display in the 2023.26 release notes.

Other changes

The latest software update also includes other changes to Tesla EVs’ capabilities. Some of these include the following:

  • Spotify App’s refresh and overhaul
  • Bluetooth gaming controllers for Tesla Arcade (applicable to Tesla Model 3 and Y)
  •  “Drive on Sunshine” lease option

As EV-a2z recently reported, Tesla now allows its EV and Powerwall customers to use their excess solar energy to charge their EVs at home.

As per the Tesla, this new charging feature will enable you to “set your vehicle’s battery to charge as usual from any available sources for enough daily driving range. Then reserve part of your vehicle’s battery to charge only when excess solar is available.”

If you want to eliminate your transport emissions by switching to an EV & adding solar, only Tesla can sell you a completely integrated system.

That allows them to offer features nobody else can, like the new Drive on Sunshine option that charges your Tesla with excess solar. pic.twitter.com/0vNUqigt3A

The Musk-led automaker has started deploying its latest 2023.26 software update to customers. However, they may receive the new software at various times, just like any other Tesla’s previous update.

Nonetheless, such updates demonstrate Tesla’s commitment to continuously improving its technologies and retaining its brand image.
