Leading American automaker Tesla announced on LinkedIn that it had already delivered 10,000 vehicles in Israel last week, as per Teslarati.
“Celebrated the 10K Tesla delivery in Israel this week,” Gantovski said. “I still remember the first deliveries just last year and how much we learned and progressed since. Happy both for Israel for this milestone (first time a manufacturer delivers 10K EVs) and, of course, for our Tesla team. Can’t wait to 20K!”
Israel’s import taxes
It is worth noting that foreign automakers have a disadvantage in the Israeli market due to import taxes.
The country implements import taxes depending on the automaker’s citizenship status at around 50% to 92%. Notably, Tesla vehicles are imported to Israel from the Gigafactory Shanghai in China.
That said, the Tesla Model 3 trim level is the cheapest offering of the Musk-led automaker. Its price is NIS 179,990 or $52,086, excluding import taxes.
Nonetheless, Tesla was still able to overcome the mentioned disadvantages. In fact, Tesla has begun hiring more employees in Israel to help in increasing customer deliveries.
