Tesla is trying to boost its end-of-quarter sales to the maximum extent with a new enticing customer incentive of up to 10,000 free Supercharging miles, according to the electric vehicle giant’s official website.
Free Supercharging miles incentive
In early March, the free Supercharging scheme was only offering 5,000 miles to customers who were willing to trade in a vehicle for a new Tesla.
The Musk-led company has since then modified the scheme to include another 5,000 free Supercharging miles when buying a new Tesla on top of the 5,000 miles available when trading in a car.
In total, buyers of eligible models can benefit from 10,000 free Supercharging miles applicable for up to two years after taking delivery of all Tesla vehicles except the new Model 3 Highland and the Cybertruck.
“Customers who trade in a vehicle by March 31, 2024, will receive 5,000 miles of free Supercharging when leasing a new vehicle or a total of 10,000 free Supercharging miles for cash or finance purchases.”

Significance
The free Supercharging miles incentive will undoubtedly become a very significant perk for customers in the following months, given that the Supercharger network will soon accommodate non-Tesla EVs through NACS adoption.
In that sense, Tesla may lose one of its best selling points. By then, the Musk-led automaker would probably need to launch additional customer incentives to stimulate demand.
Free Supercharging miles, which equates to complimentary fuel for traditional internal combustion engine-powered vehicle drivers, may substantially aid Tesla to stay competitive.
Tesla’s promotional strategy
Tesla’s move to launch such customer incentives is no longer surprising, considering that it has always been like this at the end of every quarter.
Tesla has been attracting customers to take vehicle delivery with “end-of-quarter incentives” to achieve its sales and delivery target in the given period. It will also enable Tesla to empty its inventory before the new quarter arrives.
The Musk-led company either offers direct discounts or free access to its technology, such as the 3-month free trial to Full Self-Driving package and free Supercharging miles.
Prospective customers must hurry up as the free Supercharging miles incentive is set to expire by the end of the month, demonstrating Tesla’s intensified efforts to boost end-of-quarter sales. It would really be interesting to learn the effectiveness of Tesla’s free Supercharging miles in attracting customers upon the release of the quarterly sales report.
