The energy magazine emphasized that the list comprises the powerhouses revolutionizing the energy storage industry.

It acknowledged several major industry players apart from Tesla, including Panasonic, Albemarle, Enphase Energy, Energizer, Johnson Controls, Sociedad Química y Minera, AES, GE Vernova, and Vivint Solar, correspondingly.

Winning factors

Energy Digital commended Tesla Energy’s remarkable and rapid growth despite only launching in 2015, expanding its revenue stream beyond its automotive business.

As noted by the energy magazine, Tesla Energy’s battery energy storage deployment capacity reached a whopping 14.7 GWh last year.

“Tesla Energy’s energy storage business has never been better. Despite only launching its energy storage arm in 2015, as of 2023, the company had an output of 14.7 GWh in battery energy storage systems. Its portfolio includes storage products like the Powerwall and the Megapack.

Tesla is widely regarded as pioneering the future of energy thanks to its work in solar and battery storage, leading the renewable energy sector by providing innovative and efficient solutions for homeowners and businesses alike.”

Tesla energy is just in its infancy as a business. I think within 12-15 years it will be bigger than Saudi Aramco.

Demand for energy storage will grow exponentially as our energy needs will keep rising to power AI robots, EV, crypto and digital worlds. Green energy for all! https://t.co/yePvKuJZNH

Tesla’s energy storage deployment in Q1 2024

Tesla reached record-breaking energy storage deployment results in the first quarter of 2024, a piece of good news for the automaker that witnessed lower-than-expected electric vehicle sales in the same period.

According to Tesla’s Q1 2024 delivery and production report, its energy storage deployment reached a record of 4,053 MWh. It indicates a notable increase from just 3,889 MWh in Q1 2023 and 3,202 MWh in Q4 2023.

“We deployed 4,053 MWh of energy storage products in Q1, the highest quarterly deployment yet.”

This recognition aligns with Chief Executive Elon Musk’s ambition for Tesla Energy to match or even surpass the company’s automotive business.

"…tremendous year over year growth, triple digits… I think we'll continue to see very strong growth… as predicted I said for many years that the storage business would grow much faster than the car business and it is doing that." -Elon on the call
