Tesla customers have been anticipating new paint options for a while. Finally, the electric vehicle giant has unveiled one of its latest colors at an auto show in Zurich, Switzerland, as per InsideEVs.
Tesla’s entry of the said innovation appeared in the shape of a Berlin-made Tesla Model Y with Quicksilver paint. It is worth noting that cars painted in this color are anticipated to arrive in November.
AllThingsTSLA posted some images to Twitter:
This paint color is what Tesla defines as “a dynamic, liquid metal effect colour that accentuates the shape of Model Y.”
Quicksilver and Midnight Cherry Red paint in Berlin-made cars
Giga Berlin exclusively produces Tesla cars with the Quicksilver and Midnight Cherry Red paint.
That said, buyers in Europe and the Middle East are the only ones who can choose from these paint colors.
Remarkably, up to 13 layers of depth and definition are present in both colors.
“Developed in our advanced paint shop at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, the colours are designed to accentuate your Model Y under every sky. From bright highlights to dark tones, our multi-coat paint adds a new dimension that subtly changes with curvature as you walk around your Tesla.”
Pricing
The Quicksilver paint costs €3,000 ($3,108) in Germany. On the other hand, the Midnight Cherry Red costs €3,200 ($3,315).
It is significant to highlight that only the Tesla Model Y Long Range and Performance come in both colors.
That said, customers of the brand-new base Model Y Standard Range RWD (not sold in the US) must select from the standard color option.
Tesla’s initiative to match customer demand and preference is a great strategy. The automaker is currently developing new paint technologies and providing an alternative to what is currently provided by most luxury vehicle manufacturers.
