Tesla seems to have already started testing the Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised on the Cybertruck electric pickup, as shown by the spy shots from prominent Tesla follower Chuck Cook (@chazman on X).
Tesla Cybertruck’s self-driving future takes shape
Chuck Cook, known for his Tesla FSD video content, spotted a Tesla Cybertruck while testing the Level 2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) in Florida on Saturday.
‘Maybe this is the post some of you have been waiting for? The @Tesla ADAS drivers are out turning again, but I noticed some new vehicles today. Check it out!

This recent sighting came ahead of the anticipated FSD Supervised introduction to the Cybertruck later this month. For context, Tesla has already been deploying FSD v12.5 in the past few weeks. This software version is expected to be the first to reach the Cybertruck.
Supervised testing points to imminent release
During a virtual speech for the X Takeover event in California last Sunday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the Cybertruck would finally receive FSD software v12.5 in August 2024.
“At some point in the next two to four-ish weeks, it should work on the Cybertruck. I’m not sure the exact timing, because we just have to test it and make sure it works well…”
Tesla CEO Elon Musk
This estimated timeline roughly equates to a mid-late August rollout.
The Musk-led automaker has already released the FSD Supervised v12.5 to HW4-equipped Model Y units before a wider rollout. While the company has started deploying FSD v12.5.1 and v12.5.1.1 over the prior two weeks, it has yet to include HW3 models. CEO Musk estimates the HW3-equipped models will be included in the rollout program next week.
With production ramping up at Giga Texas and test drives already underway, the Cybertruck’s autonomous driving future appears to be taking shape.
