Tesla announced that the Cybertruck would also benefit from its 1 MW ultra-fast charging technology at its “Semi Delivery Event” on December 1, as per Electrek.
“It will be used by Cybertruck too.”
CEO Elon Musk
Tesla’s new immersion cooling technology
The leading American automaker debuted its brand-new 1 MW DC fast-charging tech for the Tesla Semi at the company event.
Apart from that, the automaker presented its innovative “immersion cooling technology,” which enables it to generate significantly higher power while maintaining a compact design:
Drivers will be able to charge the Semi significantly more quickly using the new liquid-cooled charger than they do with the current ones. The Semi’s battery is far bigger than the battery in Model 3 or Model S.
That said, it would take a long time to charge the Semi with a current Tesla Supercharger, so the development is sensible.
1 MW + DC Charging to reach Tesla Supercharger networks
Another interesting news revealed at the Semi Delivery Event is that the charging technology will also be deployed on Tesla’s Supercharger network in 2023.
“This is coming to our Superchargers next year.”
Dan Priestley, Tesla Semi Program manager
It is worth noting that pickup truck stalls were indicated in recent proposals for additional Supercharger stations. That said, the capacity of such stalls now seems to be significantly higher. Remarkably, the new Tesla Supercharger V4 appears to be connected to it.
Furthermore, as per the automaker’s recent announcement, Tesla Semi’s new 1,000-volt powertrain will be incorporated into other vehicle programs. However, it still needs to be verified whether Cybertruck will also benefit from this technology.
