At least one of the current Tesla Cybertruck prototypes does not have air conditioning, as per Teslarati’s article.
According to InsideEVs, before the deleted Instagram post of Jack Griffiths Garage that first revealed the information, Whole Mars Catalog (@WholeMarsBlog) had already shared the video on Twitter which shows the Tesla Cybertruck being driven at the automaker’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.
It is worth noting that one of the people in the Cybertruck pointed out that air conditioning would be wonderful as the video plays, while another passenger jokingly commented that the temperature inside the Cybertruck is 68 degrees Fahrenheit, to which someone replied that it is even closer to 86 degrees. The driver adds that there is no option for air conditioning as he reaches over to the touch screen of the Cybertruck.
However, this video is not enough to prove that the Tesla Cybertruck will truly be available in a configuration with no air conditioning, considering other possibilities. For instance, those prototypes might be the ones without the feature yet, or the driver from the video was just not able to discover how to turn on the AC.
According to Teslarati, CEO Elon Musk said at the Cyber Roundup Tesla shareholder event:
“A lot has changed since then, so the specs and the pricing will be different. I hate to give sort of a little bit of bad news. But I think there’s no way to sort of anticipate the inflation that we’ve seen and the various issues.”
In the meantime, there is nothing to do but wait for the official release of the controversial Cybertruck, which Musk confirmed to be in 2023.
