Tesla’s Cybertruck continues demonstrating its all-electric power as owners proudly bring their stainless steel electric pickup to tractor pulling events, beating even traditional gas-powered participants.
Cybertruck challenges diesel dominance in tractor pulling
Despite facing significant criticism for its unconventional design, the Tesla Cybertruck’s exceptional power output is winning over tractor pull enthusiasts.
For instance, a Cybertruck owner joined a tractor pull event and secured the 2nd spot out of 17 participants. The video was posted by Facebook user John Doan earlier this month, noting that he was able to witness with his “own eyes what the Cybertruck could do that many other “real” trucks couldn’t.”
In addition, another video shared by X user @Teslaconomics on Saturday showcased how the Cybertruck stunned the audience with its towing power. As you can hear in the video, some of the audience exclaimed their disbelief as the Cybertruck managed to pull the tractor over a considerable distance.
Tech and Tesla content writer @SERobinsonJr also reported a Cybertruck winning the 2500 Class at the truck pull on Sunday, gaining CEO Elon Musk’s attention.
The Cybertruck, which seems to be a Dual Motor AWD variant, successfully completed a “full pull.”
Tractor pulling mechanics
Tractor pulling is widely regarded as the “world’s heaviest motorsport,” where participating vehicles must drag a metal sled along a specified course.
The sled carries a box loaded with weight, which is mechanically dragged towards the front during the competition. Vehicles typically lose speed and power as the weight continuously increases during a tractor pull. It basically prevents them from completing the course.
However, some capable vehicles, like the Tesla Cybertruck seen in the 2500 class video, can successfully finish the entire track. The National Tractor Pullers Association calls this feat a “full pull.”
In hindsight, Tesla also demonstrated Cybertruck’s impressive strength upon its debut by pitting it against tough competition (Ford F-150 Lightning, a Rivian R1T, and a Ford F-350) in a tractor pull. The Tesla electric pickup exceeded expectations, establishing its strong ability to compete against traditional truck powerhouses.
