Tesla fans and drone operators have been monitoring the movements at the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, as the highly awaited Cybertruck nears production this year.
Now, EV giant Tesla reportedly received the Cybertruck’s die-casting molds as its parts arrived at Giga Texas, per information revealed by Tesla enthusiast Greg (@greggertruck).
Bill of lading
Greg’s Tweet embedded above reveals Tesla’s bill of lading for the die-casting molds of its upcoming Cybertruck. It discloses the arrival of a container from ZDM (Zhenzhi) Machinery & Mould Co. on January 16, 2023, in the US.
The item appears to be picked up on January 18 and arrived at the Giga Texas by January 20.
Intriguingly, it indicates the description “die casting hts” and the keyword “die casting.”
The company behind the deliveries is headquartered in Zhejiang, China. The document shows that the importer was Tesla Texas Gigafactory, with the delivery address at 13101 Harold Green Road, Dock E3, Austin, Texas, 78725.
Interestingly, Tesla’s bill of lading aligns with Giga Texas drone operator Joe Tegtmeyer’s updates. His flyover of the production site on January 18 revealed an additional 9000t Giga Press assembly for Cybertruck, which has been progressing these past few days quickly.

What’s the function of the casting molds?
Tesla would build the rear underbody of the Cybertruck using die-casting molds. Tesla would insert the molds into the 9,000-ton Giga Press and inject molten metal to develop the components of the Cybertruck.
It is interesting to note that some of the Tesla molds that have arrived in the country are remarkably heavy. Some weigh as much as 117,000 kilos or about 257,000 pounds.
The EV community is indeed excited about the arrival of the Tesla Cybertruck. Unofficial trackers indicate that the Cybertruck has well over 1.5 million orders.
The well-adored electric pickup truck is expected to start production and delivery by mid-2023. Tesla aims to gradually expand production output after that. It will be interesting to see how everything plays out over the next few months.
