World’s most valuable automaker Tesla continues to work on its Autopilot system, aiming for further advancement in the complex technology. In that sense, the American automaker is currently accelerating its recruitment drive for its Autopilot team in Europe.

The latest job advertisements on the company’s official website reveal numerous positions in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and Munich for the driver assistance system’s improvement, indicating that the renowned FSD Beta will soon undergo testing in the continent.

Tesla’s pursuit of achieving full autonomy

Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently announced his goal of achieving full autonomy across the company’s portfolio this year.

In late June, Tesla disclosed that the company was ready to eliminate the “beta” label from its FSD technology by releasing the highly awaited version 12.

Although Tesla’s FSD is not exactly “fully” autonomous at the moment, many testers have been giving positive feedback on the technology. They attest that the Tesla FSD supports long trips without a single intervention.

That said, it is unsurprising that Tesla is now trying to expand in Europe with its ADAS technology Autopilot. Excitingly, Tesla may soon launch FSD Beta testing in the region.

The job ads indicated that Tesla is currently looking for an Autopilot Data Collection Operator / Driver located in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Munich, Germany.

“We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter to help accelerate vehicle level data collection for the Autopilot team. The Prototype Vehicle Operator will help drive improvement of Tesla’s Autopilot system by operating and becoming an expert on our prototype data collection vehicles across the EU. This role requires a high level of flexibility, as frequent travel is necessary on this team.”

Meanwhile, below are the job responsibilities as noted by Tesla on its websites:

  • “Drive a pre-determined test route daily for data collection and provide feedback on the performance of the test vehicle.
  • Start/Stop recording devices and do minor equipment/software debugging when necessary. Analyze/report data collected during shift.
  • Write daily drive reports detailing observations and issues.
  • Check vehicle is in proper and safe working order every day, and if not, notify the team for repair.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule; Day/night shifts with the ability to work 1 day per weekend. Overtime is also typical for this position”

Tesla’s naming of “Full Self-Driving” as its autonomous driving system has long been gaining criticism because it has not even reached that level yet. Tesla EVs with FSD Beta still require human drivers to stay alert and prepared to take over if necessary.

Finally, the automaker seems to be progressive in its quest to achieve full autonomy, which CEO Musk expects as early as this year.
