Tesla intensified its efforts to boost electric vehicle sales and deliveries in the last quarter of the year after its results fell short of analysts’ expectations in Q3 2023.
As part of the end-of-year push, the Musk-led company announced yesterday that customers can now transfer free unlimited Supercharging to new orders for select models.
Coverage
The free unlimited Supercharging scheme includes only the Tesla Model Y, Model S, and Model X. It seems that the Model 3 does not need any more boost. Auto Evolution suggests that Tesla may anticipate lower production for the all-electric sedan in Q4 2024.
Notably, it only covers orders delivered through December 31.
Tesla Model Y
Tesla Model Y currently offers three variants in the North American market, including the base RWD, Dual-Motor AWD Long Range, and Dual-Motor AWD Performance.
Tesla Model Y | Price (before options) | Estimated Delivery Time |
Model Y RWD | $43,990 | between October and November 2023 |
Dual-Motor AWD Long Range | $48,490 | between October and November 2023 |
Dual-Motor AWD Performance | $52,490 | between October and November 2023 |
Apart from the free unlimited Supercharging transfer perk, all Tesla Model Y variants can benefit from the IRA’s full tax credit of $7,500 until December 31, 2023.
According to Teslarati, customers can also lease Model Y for only $399/month in some states (before taxes and fees).
Tesla Model S
Tesla sells two Model S variants in the region, including the Dual-Motor AWD and the Tri-Motor AWD.
Tesla Model S | Price (before options) | Estimated Delivery Time |
Dual-Motor AWD | $74,990 | between October and November 2023 |
Tri-Motor AWD Model S Plaid | $89,990 | between October and November 2023 |
Tesla Model X
Tesla also offers two Model X variants: Dual-Motor AWD Model X and Tri-Motor AWD Model X Plaid.
Tesla Model X | Price (before options) | Estimated Delivery Time |
Dual-Motor AWD | $79,990 | between October and November 2023 |
Tri-Motor AWD Model X Plaid | $94,990 | between October and November 2023 |
Tesla sticks to its target of selling 1.8 million electric vehicles this year alone. That said, Tesla needs to deliver better results in Q4 2023, considering it remains its only chance to fulfill that goal. Tesla has been employing significant price cuts, but it seems to need complementary schemes like the free Supercharging transfer. With these efforts, it would be unsurprising if Tesla successfully hits its 2023 delivery targets.
