Tesla has once again demonstrated its dominance in the electric vehicle industry, according to a new study conducted by software firm Circuit. It suggests that Tesla was the top brand preferred by delivery drivers and dispatchers, ultimately beating any other automakers by a significant margin.

Study highlights

There is no doubt that sustainable business approaches such as EV adoption reduce expenses on gas and maintenance. In that sense, Circuit conducted a survey involving more than 1,000 delivery drivers and dispatchers.

The results indicate that one-fifth or 20% of dispatchers included in the study intend to shift to clean energy vehicles like hybrid or electric to cut operating costs.

On the other hand, nearly one in every ten delivery drivers, or 7%, said they were already using electric vehicles for their operations. Unsurprisingly, 51% of drivers and 38% of dispatchers involved in the study strongly preferred Tesla EVs over any other options available in the market. Ford emerged as the second top brand, with 28% of dispatchers and 17% of drivers favoring it.

Interestingly, the dispatchers and drivers rated electric or hybrid vehicle adoption at 28% for making their last-mile deliveries more sustainable. The traditional delivery route optimization strategy remained dominant, rating 73%. Meanwhile, approximately 15% of dispatchers cited using drone technology as their best strategy to cut their carbon footprint.

For context, transportation-induced carbon dioxide from gasoline and diesel vehicles in the US hit about 1,486 million metric tons, per US Energy Information Administration data from 2021.

Tesla Semi is perfect for making long-distance deliveries sustainable. Meanwhile, smaller units like the Model Y are best for last-mile deliveries.
