Electric vehicle giant Tesla recently released a list of new available job positions at its official career website for the major expansion of the Gigafactory Nevada, which will house the production of the electric Semi.
Open job positions
In the past few days, Tesla posted ten job advertisements relevant to building design and Tesla Semi’s mass production at Giga Nevada. These jobs are as follows:
- Sr. Architect, Semi
- Structural Modeling Lead, Semi
- Factory Design Engineering Leader, Semi
- Lead Plumbing Engineer, Semi
- BIM Manager and Virtual Design Coordinator, Semi
- Staff Iot Network Engineer, Infrastructure Network Engineering
- Electrical Construction Project Mangement, Infrastructure Programs – Semi

For the Senior Architect position, Tesla indicated the following description:
“Tesla is looking for a Senior Architect to work on large scale ground-up Engineering-Procurement-Construction projects. The product portfolio is expanding with never-built-before production lines and our Architects are expected to have the skills to translate new manufacturing requirements into efficient, code compliant, and aesthetically appealing spaces. In a cross functional organization, our team works side-by-side engineering, construction, and procurement teams to design, and build, the future of Tesla. In this role, you will be asked to be the technical Project Architect for the design and engineering efforts to support construction projects, from concept to start of production.”

Apart from these, Tesla is also recruiting a Factory Design Engineering Leader in Sparks, Nevada. It is also looking for a CAE & CFD Thermal Engineer in Fremont.
Tesla Semi production progress
Tesla’s Engineering Head, Dan Priestley, disclosed in his appearance in Jay Leno’s Garage segment that the Musk-led company has already assembled about 60 to 70 Semi units so far.
Tesla apparently aims to “exponentially” ramp up production and develop the Semi as a strong rival for popular diesel-powered trucks.
In retrospect, Tesla revealed plans at the beginning of the year to invest $3.6 billion to expand its existing Nevada site.
The American EV giant aims to construct two new factories, including one for Semi’s mass production and one for 4680 cylindrical battery cell development with a 100 GWh annual output.
However, nine months have passed, and Tesla has still yet to begin the volume production of the electric truck. Finally, it seems that the Musk-led company is on track to initiate production ramp-up, considering the surge of new job openings for the factory.
About Tesla Semi
EV-a2z reported in January that Tesla drivers’ revelations regarding the Class 8 all-electric truck as an automotive media platform visited PepsiCo’s Modesto Frito Lay facility in California.
According to them, the Tesla Semi has a 1,000 kWh battery pack that generates a driving range of 500 miles between charges. Meanwhile, the 600 kWh battery pack can enable a 300-mile range.
They also indicated that the Semi features a modified Plaid tri-motor powertrain with a reverse rotation, which can likely generate an estimated output of 1,020 horsepower and 1,050 lb. ft. of torque like the Model S/X Plaid.
Tesla Chief Elon Musk announced last year that it expects the Semi to hit an annual production output of 50,000 by 2024. However, he adjusted the guideline that volume production will not occur before late 2024 due to battery supply impediments.
