About the accolade

UK’s consumer organization Which? released its “Best electric cars for 2023: Which? Best Buys and expert buying advice” report on November 20.

It vested the 2023 Subaru Solterra, the highly coveted Which? Best Buy title in the medium to large SUV market after conducting strict laboratory tests on usability and performance aspects. Then, the organization’s experts combined the results to make an overall test score.

According to Torque News, Subaru UK emphasized in the recently released report that Which? acknowledge the Solterra’s remarkable characteristics such as follows:

  • handling
  • grippy all-wheel drive system
  • efficient power consumption
  • safety
  • equipment levels

“The Solterra’s design, inside and out, marks it out as something special. It is unusually comfortable, efficient, and very practical for families, and the secure all-wheel drive and excellent safety credentials mean you can drive with peace of mind.”

The Japanese automaker also asserted that the evaluation highly took into account the brand reliability, where Solterra got four out of five stars for 0-4-year-old vehicles.

Which? concluded that the 2023 Subaru Solterra is currently the most innovative model from the brand. It is unsurprising, considering that the Solterra is the company’s first EV offering.

What’s special about the Solterra EV?

Subaru Solterra offers a standard all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration. However, drivers can benefit from the brand’s X-Mode feature that allows gear setting adjustments to support various terrain types and weather conditions.

It is like an extremely slow-speed cruise control that features five configurations controlled by a toggle button.

It would offer a superior driving experience, particularly on steep, slick hills. Subaru also boasts that the model will make first-time drivers feel safe even on the most complicated roads.

This is a Subaru.

Specifically, it is the 2023 Subaru Solterra (beautiful name by the way)😅 and it is an EV.

AWD, 2 electric motors generating 215hp, 4 driving modes (Eco, Normal, Power & X mode), 300+ km range, and 8.3 inches ground clearance.

The launch of the Solterra EV was undoubtedly a significant milestone for Subaru, which marked its first entry into the rapidly growing electric vehicle market. The company partnered with co-Japanese automaker Toyota to develop the Solterra’s platform.
