Japanese legacy automaker Subaru has just unveiled new features for the 2024 Solterra EV, including an updated charging technology. What’s more exciting about Subaru’s announcement is that despite the improvements, the model will have no price increase.
The 2024 Subaru Solterra will offer three variants: Premium, Limited, and Touring.
Charging tech upgrade
Subaru highlights the major upgrade in the 2024 Solterra’s fast charging capability. According to the press release, the vehicle has an improved DC fast charging tech due to a more powerful battery conditioning system.
In hindsight, the 2023 Solterra only supported a charging speed of approximately 56 minutes (up to 100 kilowatts) from 10-80% state-of-charge (SOC).
Impressively, the 2024 Solterra can do so in just 35 minutes, thanks to the upgrade. In addition, it can now support faster charging even in cold weather.
“Thanks to an upgraded battery conditioning system, the 2024 Solterra can charge at temperatures below freezing significantly faster than its predecessor, up to 80 minutes faster in certain conditions.”

Apart from the upgraded fast charging capability, the 2024 Subaru Solterra offers a wide range of new features, including the following:
- Standard Subaru EyeSight driver-assist tech (e.g., driver-supported, hands-free driving at up to 25 mph speeds
- Lane changing ability on command by activating a turn signal
- A revamped steering wheel with regenerative braking force paddle switches
- Standard roof rails with up to 700 pounds static load capacity and up to 176 pounds dynamic load capacity
- Front Cross-Traffic Alert, the DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System, etc.

Pricing
As mentioned, Subaru did not raise the prices of the three available variants of the 2024 Subaru Solterra. However, the destination charge for the model increased by $120. Refer to the table below:

Subaru imports the all-electric Solterra from its Japanese production lines, disqualifying it from US federal tax credits of up to $7,500. Nonetheless, interested customers can still benefit from the incentive by leasing the model.
