Multinational automaker Stellantis has just introduced its new STLA Large Platform, which will spawn eight new all-electric vehicle models by 2026.

According to the press release, the STLA Large platform can flexibly support battery-electric cars, crossovers, and SUV vehicle types regardless of shapes and sizes. It is a native BEV platform specifically designed for 400-volt and 800-volt electric architectures. Impressively, it can also underpin hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and internal combustion engine motors.
The STLA Large platform marks the second of the four global BEV platforms Stellantis plans to launch for its next-gen models, following the STLA Medium’s debut in July 2023.
As mentioned, it will enable the company to develop and bring a total of eight new battery-electric vehicle models to the market by 2026.
First brands to use the new platform
Dodge and Jeep are reportedly the first in Stellantis’ automotive brand portfolio to access the new STLA Large platform. Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, and Maserati are also among the expected brands to benefit from the newly introduced platform,
According to Car Buzz, the upcoming Dodge Charger EV will be among the initial models to ride on the cutting-edge platform. For context, this model has already appeared in public while undergoing road tests. The first batch of EVs to use the STLA Large platform also includes the Jeep Wagoneer S EV.

Technical details
Stellantis’ STLA Large platform is a flexible architecture that can underpin different vehicle types, from cars to 4×4 SUV off-roaders.
Its overall length ranges from 187.6 to 201.8 inches, while its overall width range is between 74.7 and 79.9 inches. It has a wheelbase of 113.0 inches-121.1 inches and a ground clearance of 5.5 inches-11.3 inches. Meanwhile, its maximum tire diameter measures 32.6 inches.
In that sense, vehicle models equipped with this flexible platform can support different suspension modules and interior designs. They will also have flexible drivetrain configurations, including front-wheel drive (FWD), rear-wheel drive (RWD), and all-wheel drive (AWD).
In addition, it can underpin single-motor and dual-motor versions. It will also come with 85 kWh battery packs for entry-level variants and 118 kWh packs for top-tier variants. The larger battery pack can reportedly deliver a driving range of up to 500 miles.
Stellantis’ introduction of the new STLA Large platform is part of its wider strategy to hit 100% passenger battery-electric car sales in Europe and 50% passenger battery-electric car and light-duty truck sales in the US by 2030.
