Lincoln, a luxury vehicle division of American automobile manufacturer Ford, revealed the newest Model L100 Concept at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, according to InsideEVs.
The Model L100 Concept “embraces the tension between exuberant elegance and subtle restraint,” as claimed by Lincoln. It further believes that the Model L100 Concept surpasses the brand’s Quiet Flight design boundaries compared to the Lincoln Star Concept unveiled in April this year.
In commemorating the 100th anniversary of the brand’s 1st luxury vehicle, the 1922 Model L, the controversial Model L100 Concept is inspired by the company’s design heritage while ensuring advanced mobility in the future.
What’s remarkable about this electric vehicle’s design is its transparent hood and hidden crystal greyhound hood ornament, capturing depth and illumination that is believed to symbolize grace, elegance, and speed. Furthermore, it has a low-to-the-ground aero-shaped design, a K-tail, clean surfaces, and smart wheel covers, utilizing the lights and sensors in order to communicate motion, battery life, and human presence effectively.
Another exciting feature of the Lincoln L100 Concept, aside from its “lounge-like” 2+2 interior, is it has no steering wheel in sight as it is a fully autonomous EV, offering a convenience, connectivity, and intelligent driving experience to its users. Its Embrace welcoming sequence is also elegant as it has two rear-hinged doors on the sides while its glass roof lifts upward entirely.
Additionally, the jewel-inspired chess piece controller that is believed to capture light and depth fills the lack of a steering wheel, offering an excellent but effortless driving experience. Its digital floor is entertaining to the users as it works well with the canopy and ambient lighting. Aside from these, the Model L100 cabin is designed with luxury alternatives instead of animal materials.
That being said, the Model L100 Concept is sleek, and its aerodynamic structure seems like a hybrid of a grand tourer and a shooting brake making it hard to categorize.
Kemal Curic, Lincoln’s global design director, stated, “This concept allowed us to design a new experience that is unburdened by past limitations and represents an evolution of our Quiet Flight tenets. The ultimate expression of our Model L100 design is one that moves effortlessly – a vehicle that appears to be sculpted by the wind, as if friction does not exist.”
The all-electric powertrain details of the concept must be as excellent as its physical and technical design, so EV enthusiasts better watch out.
