Black Sesame Technologies, the Chinese artificial intelligence company, has revealed that it has partnered with the Chinese telecommunication company ZTE. According to CnEVPost, this strategic partnership is Black Sesame’s first in the self-driving chip market.
Common objectives
The two Chinese businesses are committed to product development, ecological synergy, and project solutions based on technologies like self-driving computing chips and vehicle operating systems.
Per the press release, they will collaborate to develop a fundamental software and hardware platform for vehicles. Furthermore, they will actively support the formation of an auto electronics eco-alliance.
About Black Sesame
Black Sesame was established in August 2016. Notably, Shanghai and Silicon Valley both house R&D facilities for the company.
In November 2016, Northern Light Venture Capital provided it with Series A funding. Furthermore, Black Sesame reported in January 2018 that it had successfully raised almost RMB 100 million in a strategic Series A+ investment round headed by NIO Capital.
The company pledges that it will continue to expand partnerships with companies in that industry chain to commercialize smart driving. Some of its major partners are BlackBerry QNX, MAXIEYE, and JAC Group.
About ZTE
ZTE offers a variety of products in the field of auto operating systems, such as RTOS, Safety Linux, and Hypervisor. Gu Yongcheng, ZTE VP and general manager of automotive electronics, claims that these products intend to offer a “real-time, secure, and stable platform for chips.”
The partnership would promote the growth of the industry chain and the development of an ecological community.
